Today, approximately ninety percent of the world’s information is created and stored in an electronic format.  Many private individuals and businesses may need to conduct internal and confidential investigations into their computers or other electronic storage devices.  Carlsborg Investigation Services, Inc. has the experience to conduct discreet forensic investigations.

 

Computer forensics is defined as the application of computer investigation and analysis techniques to determine potential illegal or inappropriate use of computers and other data storage devices.  Discovery includes but is not limited to theft, fraud, misuse of e-mails, or any other manipulative acts that may be instituted by government, business or private individuals.   

 

Carlsborg Investigation Services, Inc. has the experience and ability to discover questionable data found in our clients’ computer systems.  In most cases, we are also capable of recovering deleted, encrypted, or damaged file information.  Our forensic experts can quickly identify areas on our clients’ private or company computer system to find data files in both their present form or deleted files on a hard disk or backup media.

 

Protection of our client’s computer systems and the careful handling of the information found there is our main goal at Carlsborg Investigation Services, Inc.  Our forensic strategy includes:

 

1. Protection of the client’s computer system from any possible damage, data corruption, or virus introduction.

2. The extraction of information from data files will be properly handled and protected from later mechanical or electromagnetic damage.

3. The confidentiality of the information will be maintained, ethically and not divulged and be housed in Carlsborg Investigation Services state of the art secure facility.

4. If our client is a business, its operations will only be affected for a limited amount of time.  We will get your computer system back up and running as soon as the information can be taken from the computer.

An overall analysis of our clients’ database, their internal networks including individual terminals, and internet history will be provided, listing all possible discovered data which the client was both aware and unaware of as it existed on the computer.

A Seattle-area business experienced financial and operational problems between the two principle partners.  Eventually, Partner #1 suspected Partner #2 of using company funds for his own personal use.   Carlsborg Investigation Services, Inc. was contacted to look into the matter. 

 

Our investigator made an image of the hard drive in the company’s main computer.  This data was used to confirm the suspicions of Partner #1 and an analysis of the business records prepared by our staff revealed a large amount of funds personally and illegally being used by Partner #2. 

 

Confronted with the information collected during this investigation, Partner #2 left the company.  The company is now financially solvent and no further legal action was necessary.
